Swing check valves use a hinged disc that swings open; they suit larger diameters and lower velocities. Wafer (dual-plate) check valves are compact with two spring-loaded plates, closing faster and offering lower pressure drop.

Can check valves be used in pump discharge lines?

Yes. Check valves are commonly installed on pump discharge to prevent reverse flow and protect pumps from backspin and water hammer.

Forged steel gate valves are manufactured by shaping solid metal billets under high pressure and heat. This process aligns the grain structure, eliminates internal voids, and results in superior mechanical strength, impact resistance, and fatigue endurance. In contrast, cast steel gate valves are formed by pouring molten metal into molds—a method that can introduce porosity, inclusions, or micro-cracks if not tightly controlled.
